hmm.. minggu yg sungguh memenatkan tetapi BERUSAHA!! seperti kura-kura.. walaupun ia lembab,slow dan sebagainya... jika berusaha pasti akan berjaya.. hehe soo this week ade banyak bende... few asgmt, report, speaking mandarin, hmmmm membengangkan... heheh... nvm.. in 1 week times, balik rumah makan banyk2 relax.. General Purposes: To motivate and to inform

Specific Purposes: To motivate our audience about how to be successful and to inform our audience about the success stories of a great corporate leader this is Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.

Central Idea: The story of Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary can make our
audience be inspired and motivated throughout his success in business activities which can make them to be more discipline and working much harder to achieve their dream.


INTRODUCTION

The Life of Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary

Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary was born in 1951 at a middle class family where his father’s work is breeding cow business while his mother is just a housewife. His higher education is only until form 5 because he can’t afford to further his studies at that time. He started help his father’s business by keeping and manage his father’s bookkeeping. He also helped his mother sells the vegetables and roti canai before going to school early in the morning
That is just the beginning. Now let’s go personally about him. He’s a mysterious man. Where he does not like to show off the luxurious life. For your information, he is easy to get along with other people. He is not the type of people which love to collect luxury car. He has an old model of Proton Perdana and another one is 20 year’s old Mercedes which he used to use it from time to time.
Back in the year 1951, poverty and hard to suffer in life is the keyword towards his successful life. His father is Yemenian and stayed in Kedah. He used to sell the convenience goods to the people around his neighborhoods. He and his father later on get along to do the business well. Time after time, the business already moves from one stage to another. They used to import the cow from Thailand and sell the meats domestically.
But the happiness is only for a moment, the business washed away by foot and mouth disease. As his determination starting to skyrocket, he quickly moved to expand into diversification of other businesses. His next big move was in the logistics business, with initial goal to transport their trading materials.
He used to cooperate with chinese in business where he buy most of the share and business which is view as failed business and he then built up the business until it success and give profit.
As a muslims, he never forget about the charity in Islam. He give charity and lots of money to the peoples in need. He build more than 10 mosques in Malaysia. He also gave funds valued at 1.25 million pounds sterling (RM7.5 M) to OXFORD UNIVERSITY for the Islamic Learning Center in London.
Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhari can be described as a very low profile person. He doesn’t like to go public or being published in the media. He ends his bachelorhood at his mid 40’s and was blessed with four children with two boys and two girls.

The Success Story of Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhari started doing business by helping his father in breeding cow. However, this business was washed away by foot and mouth disease. Nevertheless, he took over the business and start over by selling meats. His determination starting paid off and the business started to take off.
As his skyrocket, he quickly moved to expand into diversification of other business. His next big move was in the logistic business, with initial goal to transport their trading materials. More success followed and he moved to rice trading business.
He worked even harder after awarded the rice trading licenses from Lembaga Padi Negara, and was later awarded successions of supplier contract government-linked corporations. As the saying goes “the harder you work, the luckier you get.”
He currently holds a share in Mining Corporation Berhad (MMC), Bernas, Malakoff Berhad, Johor Port Berhad, Impian Teladan Sdn Bhd and many more others. Even becoming the talk of the country, Syed Mokhtar most of the times tried to lay low. He is rarely available for press interview and remains elusive in the world of publicity. Instead, he focuses his work on philanthropist's work and is passionate with his charity foundation under the name of Al-Bukhary Foundation.
Al-Bukhary Foundation helped to build Islamic Art Museum valued at RM70 millions as well as building many mosques and charity establishments in Kedah, Perak and across the country.


The Characteristic of Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary

Tan Sri is a patriotic person. It is proved when he drives a Perdana instead of driving other luxury cars such as BMW, Volvo or Mercedes. It is also been proved by his effort in supporting local student in pursuing their study by giving them a scholarship to a student to continue inside or outside the country.
The second characteristic that Tan Sri has is that he is a religious person. It is shown when he donated a lot of his profit to build a lot of mosque. Other than that, he also has donated toward orphan and people who needed help. He also has donated 1.25 Million Pound to Oxford Islamic Institute for research on Islam. He has also built Islamic Art Museum in Kuala Lumpur.
The other characteristic that he got is he is a very hardworking person. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar did work from day till night just to make sure that everything is in order. It is shown when he does a meeting with his entire top manager to maintain the quality and to guide them from any mistake that maybe taken.
He is also a generous person since he donates a lot of his money for welfare. For an example, he gives scholarship to 1000 Saudi Arabian student to study in Malaysia.

Conclusion.

In a nutshell, everybody have an equal chance to be successful. Nothing can stop us from being successful unless it is you. We should follow what Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary did in order to
gain a wealth for now and here after.

RISK IN OUR DAILY LIFE

Risk in our daily life

General purpose:
To inform

Specific purposes:
To inform the audience about the risk and types of risk the audience could face in their daily life. It’s also to increase the awareness for important of transferring the risk to the other party when it can be transferable.

Central idea:
Risk is something that can’t be eliminate and always be apart of our daily life. In that case, the risks that may arise from our daily life routine that should be handle carefully in order to minimize the risk that arises. In dealing with the risk, there is few ways such as retention and transfer that can help people to deal and minimize and reduce it.














1.0) INTRODUCTION

1.1) Definitions of risk according to:

1.1.1) Microsoft Encrta2006: –
Chance of something going wrong. (Danger that injury, damage or lost will occur)


1.1.2) LONGMAN dictionary:-
Possibility of a bad result. (Possibility of something bad, unpleasant or dangerous may happened)


1.1.3) Risk Management Book by Emmett J. Vaughan:-
Conditions where there is possibility of an adverse deviation from a desire outcome that is expected or hopes for.















1.2) Rules in dealing with risk:

In dealing with risk, there are few rules that must be considered.

1.2.1) * Don’t risk more then you can afford to loose
If we could not bear the losses, we should transfer the risk to the other party that willing to bear it for us in order to minimize the losses.

1.2.2) * Consider the odd
We should consider the probability of the event to happen to us. If the probability is high, we should make avoidance toward the risk in order to eliminate the risk that happened.


1.2.3) * Don’t risk a lot for a little
We should no transfer the risk that can be retained to our self in order to reduce the money flow to an insurance company. For an example, if the risk is only will not cause us into bankruptcy, loss of life or disability, we should consider for not transfer it to another party.












1.3) Reason fro understanding risk:

There is a lot of reason for understanding risk, for an example, risk is something that can’t be eliminate and always be apart of our daily life. In that case, the risks that may arise from our daily life routine should be handle carefully in order to minimize the risk that arises. In dealing with the risk, there is few ways such as retention and transfer that can help people to deal and minimize and reduce it with the understanding of risk, we can be aware of all the thing around us that will lead to the losses of property, life or even a disability permanently or life-time disability cause by the risk that arise from human, nature or even economics.

2.0) Type of dealing with risk

2.1) risk retention
Risk retentions are defined as there is an availability of fund to replace if the event of loss happened to a person. (Risk Management Book by Emmett J. Vaughan)

The risk also can be retained in 2 conditions.

a) Intentional
Its mean that the risk is retained even when the person is aware of the undesired possible outcome.

As an example, if the person knows that he is facing a risk when ever they drive without wearing a seat belt while driving. If there is a case of accident, the person itself actually had already aware of the entire possible outcome that may arise from it. So his is risk retention by the person intentionally.



b) Unintentional

Its mean that the risk is retained without the person aware of the possibility that the desire outcome may happened.

For an example, a person who is using machinery without knowing that there may be a possibility of the outcome from the product is not as what he or she wants it to be. They actually retain the risk by them self without intentions of the undesired outcome that arise.




2.2) Risk transfer

Risk transfer is define as a risk that been transfer from one party to another party who is willing to bear the consequences.

In transferring the risk to another party, person will have to follow a certain rules that been stated by the transferred party and pay a certain amount of premium.

There are few types of insurance that commonly been offer to a person such as:

2.2.1) Health insurance

- For example in case of accidents and health insurance.
It is defined as insurances against loss by sickness or accidental bodily injury an the loss may be the loss of wages from disability caused by the accident or sickness or the loss that caused by payment for bills such as medical, hospital or doctor bills.

2.2.2) Life insurance

- This is type of insurance that may ease the third party of the person who buying and transfer the risk to the insurer. It is because if something happened for the person who bought the life insurance, the third party such as family, wife or son and daughter may claim compensation money in order to continue their life with the money the got from the insurance company. This is also important in case of
The person is the key person in family or even in a company. This is important in a family which there is only one who is the source for living.

2.2.3) Property and liability insurance

- This is an insurance that to secure the property such as house, land, cars and motorcycle. This is another type of insurance that a person must transfer since we could not bear or retain the possible risk or losses to our self. For an example are the damages from the human perils and by the legal factors.

3.0) CONCLUSION

Risk cannot be eliminated, but it can be reduce to a minimal by making a preparation or transfer it to another party.

Risk also can be cause by other factors such as human, nature or economic so that we should make a precaution in order to minimize the risks.
